BROWNWOOD FARMS PUMPKIN BUTTER

$ 5.49

 — Sarah M

The “taste of the season” and perfect for entertaining families and friends this holiday season.  The Pumpkin Butter has the taste of pumpkin pie.  Great on ice cream, bread, toast, muffins and scones.  Made with maple syrup, it has a sophisticated taste with a Northern flair.  Mix it with mascarpone and put in mini pie shells or pipe into canneloni shells for pumpkin pie with a twist!  Also good smeared on waffles or put a scoop in your pancake batter for pumpkin pancakes!

NINET DE PENA ROSE ‘07 (Grenache-Syrah)

$9.99 regular $8.99 on special

 — Sarah A

It is so fun to pair wines with Thanksgiving dinner because there are so many different foods on the table and so many wines that would be appropriate. My personal favorites are Roses, the high-acidity and low-alcohol make roses a compatible wine for a wide range of foods.

“From the quality-conscious grower cooperative whose wines are marketed in the U.S. under the name “Pena,” the 2007 Ninet de Pena Rose – a Grenache-Syrah blend – is lusciously loaded with fresh, tart red raspberry, melon and subtly bitter herbs. Surprisingly bright and white wine-like for a Roussillon rose, it is guaranteed to satisfy in a wide range of circumstances - not just for the rest of this summer, but until the next.”

THREE PHILOSOPHERS

750ml $7.99 bottle or four 12 oz bottles $14.29

 — Craig

Three Philosophers is brewed in Cooperstown, New York, by the Ommegang brewery. They are very unique specializing in Belgian style ales.  This ale is special because it blends a dark malty quadruple (strong ale 9.8%) with a cherry lambic from Lindemans in Belgium. You will encounter flavors of dark fruit, vanilla, sweet cherries, coffee, currants and chocolate.

STRACHINO ITALIAN CHEESE AND FOOD FOR THOUGHT WINE PRESERVES

$8.49 / cheese and $8.29 / for wine preserves

 — Wes D

This is one of my favorite soft cheeses, similar to a “cream cheese” but done “Italian style”!  Soft and creamy, it’s great spread on bagels or crusty bread topped with any of the Food for Thought preserves.  A quick and easy appetizer with a different twist - serve the block of cheese on a platter with the wine infused jams, unique to Food for Thought, over and serve with crackers.  Food for Thought is a Michigan line of products I’ve been very impressed with since my arrival at Grand River Grocery.  Their apricot preserves with chardonnay is one of my new favorites with cheese.  Also available blackberry jam with shiraz and wild blueberry with merlot.

WILDLY DELICIOUS MASHED POTATO SEASONINGS

$5.19

 — Georgia

New to the market, this line of products out of Canada is simply . . . superb.  Started by a young couple and originally sold at various Farmer’s Market’s in the Toronto area, Wildly Delicious has grown to include tapenades, antipastas, fruit compotes (great with cheese), serving pieces (very original and sharp) and new to the line - assorted mashed potato seasoning.  Choose from apple and horseradish, garlic and chive or garlic and rosemary - I think any one of the three would be delicious blended into my Thanksgiving mashed potatoes!  Super simple - the box includes the seasoning mix and you simply sprinkle into your already mashed potatoes to suit your taste.

BROWWOOD FARMS APPLE RIESLING SALSA

$7.79

 — Connie

This product has many uses . . . serve with tortilla chips, pour it over cream cheese and serve with crackers, or use as a glaze over chicken and pork.  It would also be a really nice side accompaniment on your Thanksgiving table to serve with turkey as an alternative to the traditional cranberry relish. Brownwood Farms has combined Michigan Apples and award winning Chateau Grand Traverse Riesling to create this masterpiece.  It has a nice balance of both spicy and sweet.
